Middleweight champ Weidman pulls out of UFC 184 because of rib injury

Chris Weidman, the Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion, has pulled out of a scheduled title defense against Vitor Belfort at UFC 184 on Feb. 28 in Los Angeles because of a rib injury.

The co-main event women’s bantamweight title fight between champion Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano will headline the card at Staples Center.

Weidman has pulled out of his past two scheduled fights because of injury. He was to defend the belt against Belfort at UFC 181 on Dec. 6, but withdrew because of a broken hand.
