LA high school football player smears IcyHot on opponent’s face

For the third straight week, a bizarre, ugly incident took place during a high school football game.

Following incidents in which two Texas players targeted and hit a referee and a New Jersey player tore off an opponent’s helmet and hit him in the head with it, a Los Angeles player is accused of smearing IcyHot on an opponent’s face during a prep game between Salesian and La Canada.

Angel Salazar walked off the field in pain following the incident, which was caught on video. A Salesian player allegedly reached under Salazar’s face mask during a pileup after a play and smeared the heat rub on his face. A photo also has surfaced of Salazar on the sidelines, where it appears his face is covered with IcyHot.

“That’s the kind of substance that if it really got in your eyes, it can do some damage,” La Canada principal Ian McFeat said.
