Is Johnson’s 3-putt at US Open one of biggest chokes in history?

Dustin Johnson could’ve celebrated his 31st birthday in style today, either by savoring his first major victory or taking on Jordan Spieth in an 18-hole playoff for the U.S. Open title at Chambers Bay. But Johnson will do neither after a dreaded three-putt on the final hole of the tournament Sunday left him with his third brutal loss in a major.

With a 12-foot eagle putt on the 72nd hole, Johnson was poised to win in dramatic fashion. With a two-putt, he would’ve forced a Monday playoff with Spieth, but Johnson tapped his eagle putt 4 feet by the hole, then blew the biggest putt of his life.

Check out the video of the moment that will surely haunt Johnson for the rest of his career, as well as several other of the biggest chokes in golf history.

As painful as it was to watch Johnson’s three-putt, we can’t feel too sorry for a guy who’s engaged to Paulina Gretzky, The Great One’s daughter.
