Iowa football player eats raw egg, shell included
When it comes to eating raw eggs, “Rocky” has got nothing on Drew Ott.
Egged on by an ESPN reporter Thursday at Big Ten media day, the Iowa defensive lineman ate a raw egg, including the shell, which made a distinct crunching sound when Ott casually put the entire egg in his mouth during a TV interview.
Ott told ESPN that he’s been eating raw eggs, shells included, since his childhood.
“When I was a little kid, my uncle bet me $5 that I couldn’t eat a raw egg,” he said. “He made me have it sit in my mouth to really have a taste of it. It kind of makes you gag the first time, so he was hoping I was gonna puke everywhere. But I got it down and got my $5.
“If I’m feeling kind of lazy on a Sunday and don’t want to cook the eggs, I just eat them.”
