Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, Nov. 2

Post Time 10:15 a.m.

Race 1 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf), $100,000 Juvenile Turf Sprint, 2-year-olds

9 Toowindytohaulrox – He is the only starter to have won down the tricky hillside turf course; like the parking lot post too.

8 Love In The Desert – Turf filly makes her U.S. debut facing the boys; note her only win was over males at Thirsk.

Long Shot – 2 Richies Party Girl

Race 2 – 7 furlongs, $100,000 Damascus, 3-year-olds

1 Flashback – Shortest priced chalk on the entire card; talented colt cuts back in distance off a 7-month hiatus.

3 Zeewat – The maestro Jerry Hollendorfer has focused him on 1-turn races of late; ran well in a tough Gallant Bob at Parx.

Long Shot – 5 Anillo

Race 3 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf), $100,000 Senator Ken Maddy, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

13 Pontchatrain – Loved her win down the hill in the Unzip Me; if they run well over this course, they can do it again.

1 Purim’s Dancer – Tom Proctor has an uncoupled entry so caveat emptor; has won 4-of-5 down the hillside turf course.

Long Shot – 12 Qiaona

Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles, $2-Million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, Fillies, 2-year-olds

6 Concave – Has the pedigree to stretch out around 2-turns; Doug O’Neill skipped the Chandelier to train her up to the BC.

1 Artemis Agrotera – NY-bred deserves respect off a powerhouse win in the Frizette; she will be speed from the rail today.

Long Shot – 7 Untapable

Race 5 – 1 1/4 miles (turf), $2-Million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

1 Dank – Made mincement of a strong Beverly D field in her U.S. debut; any race close to that makes her the one to beat today.

7 Laughing – Tactical edge in that she looks like lone early speed; the key will be how slow they will let her go.

Long Shot – 6 Marketing Mix

Race 6 – 7 furlongs, $1-Million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Teddy’s Promise – We’ll go for price and a horse for course; 5-of-10 career wins have come in Arcadia, tracking trip too.

7 Summer Applause – She is the kind of cut back horse I love using in an elongated sprint; will be flying fast in the lane.

Long Shot – 4 Dance Card

Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf), $1-Million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, 3-year-olds and up

14 Unbridled’s Note – Could be the same quinella as last year’s edition; parking lot post is a benefit down the hillside course.

12 Mizdirection – Defending champ has proven she can win off a layoff; a perfect 5-for-5 down the tricky hillside turf course.

Long Shot – 4 Reneesgotzip

Race 8 – 1 1/16th miles, $2-Million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, 2-year-olds

14 Strong Mandate – For forgiving handicappers only; if this race were held a month ago, he would of been the 8/5 favorite.

2 Dance With Fate – Local horse ran a solid second in the Frontrunner; tactical speed and post to sit a nice trip.

Long Shot – 5 Bond Holder

Race 9 – 1 1/2 miles (turf), $3-Million Breeders’ Cup Turf, 3-year-olds and up

7 The Fugue – Favored in last year’s Turf and had the trip from hell; returns more mature and in peak form, should blast home.

9 Indy Point – His 2 SoCal stakes wins are eye openers; Papa Mandella loves him and that’s good enough for me.

Long Shot – 12 Real Solution

Race 10 – 6 furlongs, $1.5-Million Breeders’ Cup Sprint, 3-year-olds and up

1 Justin Phillip – In a race loaded with early speed, I’m looking for a closer type; can split horses late and rally.

9 Secret Circle – Bob Baffert has always loved this colt; won a Breeders’ Cup stakes, two years ago in the Juvenile Sprint.

Long Shot – 12 Laugh Track

Race 11 – 1 mile, $2-Million Breeders’ Cup Mile, 3-year-olds and up

8 Wise Dan – Will not hold Keeneland loss against him; 2012 Horse of the Year could not be doing any better going into the BC.

4 Obviously – For forgiving handicappers only; high 10/1 odds due to last loss, he will be the speed of the speed today.

Long Shot – 5 Olympic Glory

Race 12 – 1 1/4 miles, $5-Million Breeders’ Cup Classic, 3-year-olds and up

6 Mucho Macho Man – His 2 races at Santa Anita were both lights out; tactical speed to sit behind a potential speed duel.

12 Flat Out – I expect Game On Dude, Moreno and Fort Larned to duel early; Joel Rosario can sit a trip and come grinding late.

Long Shot – 1 Last Gunfighter

Best Bet – 8 Wise Dan (race 11)

Santa Anita Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 22/2/$23.60; Long Shots, 11/1/$10.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Santa Anita Totals – 373/89/$598.60; Long Shots, 179/27/$310.60; Best Bets, 21/10/$36.00

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #6 Romanish (2/1) in race 6 at Aqueduct. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Saturday, Golden Galaxy ran out at Aqueduct. Stats – 171/114/$927.40; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
