Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, March 21

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Mangita – Second three straight times for Aaron Gryder, now Mike Smith takes over; many close by no cigar finishes.

2 Magic Spot – Her one turf try was a real doozy; with the turf rail out 30 feet, her speed will be a definite asset.

Long Shot – 6 Tanquerray

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

3 Addendum – Claimed by Dean Pederson off a sharp win; ran well, repeat race may be enough to beat these too.

2 Clearly Confused – Rafael Bejarano appears to be more selective with his mounts; can sit a trip and grind late.

Long Shot – 5 Vindicted Ruler

Race 3 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

3 Autumn View – 4-for-4 in the money on turf without winning; start of the Pick 6 with a carryover of $551K.

4 Provenance – OK effort in last off a 2-month hiatus; has tactical speed where she can sit close to the early pace.

Long Shot – 2 Oughttobenaughty

Race 4 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

2 E Equalsmcsquared – The only horse to of not broken his maiden last time out; was thought of enough to run in a few stakes.

4 Jetbird – Was placed 1st in last after being bothered in the lane; this is a very wide open affair.

Long Shot – 6 L T Reckless

Race 5 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $58,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up

1 Jet Warrior – Broke his maiden down the hill two races ago; suspect he won’t run for a price tag for the forseable future.

3 Bettys Bambino – Graduated by 9-lengths, just not sure what he beat in debut; is an Unusual Heat, so he should like grass.

Long Shot – 7 Luz Atticus

Race 6 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, 4-year-olds and up

7 Road Ready – Taking a large class drop to face much easier; this is the bottom of the barrel for sure.

1 Xuang Feng – Taking a humonguous class drop to this bottom rung; blinkers off for Peter Miller charge.

Long Shot – 4 Truelee Scrappin

Race 7 – 1 1/4 miles (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up

1 Lime Rickey – Gets class relief from a series of stakes for this $40K price tag; marathons are usually gallopers races.

2 Boyett – Has potential controlling speed to lead throughout; crafty Rafael Bejarano can play a game of cat and mouse.

Long Shot -7 Mambo Man

Race 8 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up

1 Charbroiled – Karen Headley is having a good start to her training career; ran fast enough last time to beat this group.

2 Ice Cream Truck – Has run in the money 4 straight races; hard to leave out of your vertical wagers.

Long Shot – 6 Jimrony

Best Bet – 1 Charbroiled (race 8)
