HORSE RACING
November 21, 2007 - 10:00 pm
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 12:30 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $44,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
Any Kind of Storm – Nakatani exited others to ride the favorite for Paco; tactical speed to sit a decent trip throughout.
Royal Vision – Big rider switch to Gomez for the money shot; Gomez will take the horse back, relax, and make one big brush.
Long Shot – Gandolf
Race 2 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds
Justinplace – Was eased in last so the final margin means little; P Val figures to ride each race like it’s the Derby.
Level Red – Tough loss in last as a beaten favorite; he has good tactical speed to put himself into the race early.
Long Shot – Daytona
Race 3 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Regal Redemption – Remember that the Mig and Gomez have the same agent, Ron Anderson; filly looks ready for her photo.
Sylvana – Got too close to a searing early pace last time; suspect Garcia will ride with more patience, save some horse.
Long Shot – Feel Free to Flee
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $44,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
Berkeley Castle – Frankel adding blinkers on, a positive move for the barn; be wary of the Frankel uncoupled entry too.
El Gitano – The other Frankel is a FTS and gets top rider Bejarano; my aim is to beat The Green Monkey at an odds on price.
Long Shot – Rather Be Lucky
Race 5 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $34,000, Claiming $50,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Lady in Love – Like the turn back in distance from a 2-turn grass route to this; the switch from turf to Cushion is doable.
Run Right Thru – You have to love the way Tyler Baze is riding right now; he won the Oak Tree meet, and he keeps on winning.
Long Shot – Lucky Rylie
Race 6 – 7 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, 2-year-olds
Tommys Luck – Was hot on the tote board in his debut 6-months back; Conlon adds blinkers on and Bejarano, a lot to like.
Unbroken Vow – Logical chalk must overcome a parking post, not so bad at this elongated sprint distance; stalks and pounces.
Long Shot – Mixed Berries
Race 7 – 7 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up
Highway Patrol – This is a potential stakes horse and he comes to SoCal for good reason; Gomez gets all the choice mounts.
Solemn Promise – Not many horses do so as much in a short period, except Curlin; main fear is a prep race on our dollar.
Long Shot – Hurry Up Austin
Race 8 – 7 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 2-year-olds
Ford Island – DeLima got away with one winning for $40k and no claims; suspect he won’t see a price tag anytime soon.
Bayngen Bartok – Logical chalk could cap a nice day for Gomez; he’ll ride so many live horses, he should win 25 percent.
Long Shot – Black Mallou
Best Bet – Regal Redemption (race 3)
Hollywood Sunday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 19/4/$22.40; Long Shots, 10/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.80
