HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

Love Happens – Sharp maiden claiming win on the class drop for Mitchell; repeat effort facing winners could crush these.

Sunset Tijuana – Like the rider switch to Gomez for the money shot; Sadler adding blinkers on, interesting strategy.

Long Shot – Renewed Innocence

Race 2 – 7 furlongs, Purse $29,000, Maiden claiming $80,000, 2-year-olds

Engadin – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; like the turn back in distance too.

Recoil – Speedball tactics may be enough to bury the field from start to finish; did a classic pop and stop in last.

Long Shot – Hydrodynamic

Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $15,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds

Dixie Music Roll – Didn’t run a step last time, but takes a big class drop where he can rebound; best stride in the lane.

Dunmore – Speedball has been in position to win his last three races, but came up short; big rider switch to Nakatani.

Long Shot – Warren’s Secret

Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Toppers Dream – Have to pay attention when Gomez climbs on after an awful race last time; blinkers come off today too.

Salah – Parking lot post is the main detriment to the morning line favorite; tactical speed to sit a decent trip.

Long Shot – Sonic Comic

Race 5 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $36,000, Claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds and up

Dealer Choice – Ran like a short horse last time in return off a 7-month sabbatical; class drop and should be sharper.

Black Jack Attack – Speedy sort will like the turf rail out 10 feet; Gomez prefers to take back, let’s see his strategy.

Long Shot – Chadlington

Race 6 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $44,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

Good Request – Well bred Frankel baby is knocking at the door to graduate; should take to the Cushion track alright.

Hold Your Ground – Speedy sort is going around 2-turns for the first time; in a race lacking speed, he could be alone.

Long Shot – Orientate Slew

Race 7 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $45,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up

Kruger Park – Third start off a 2-month hiatus; like that Gomez exits others to ride for Gallagher, sits and fires late.

Congo King – All the Sadler horses are firing, so why not this guy; like that Bejarano picks up the mount from Gomez.

Long Shot – Hurry Up Austin

Race 8 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, 2-year-olds

Dewey’s Special – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; Ellis taking the blinkers off.

Jolympio – Mullins charge is exiting a bullet workout for this; barn is running well, but unlucky not to win more races.

Long Shot -Yankee George

Best Bet – Love Happens (race 1)
