HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 1:20 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $28,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Lady Le Belle – Mullins barn has gone from ice cold to white hot in a short span of time; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.

Colominas – Closer just missed in a solid effort last time out; has shown excellent improvement since claimed by Abrams.

Race 2 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Purse $20,000, 2-year-olds

Market Exchange – Logical chalk has lots of speed and draws the rail; improved a ton in his second start for Sise.

Young Thomas – FTS from the Conlon barn; not sure what’s gotten into her, but Conlon’s winning an awful lot of races lately.

Long Shot – Stormy Game

Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Claiming $10,000, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up

Social Satire – Just broke his maiden, but has shown he may more gas in the tank; won running first time for a price tag.

Long Shot – Figures

Race 4 – 1 mile (turf), Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

Vice Admiral – Will not find a softer spot to graduate facing state-breds than this; Talamo will sit a trip and grind late.

Jupiter’s Stone – Ran miserably last time out, that’s why I like him; his turf races before that were a big improvement.

Long Shot – Tovar

Race 5 – 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Big Picture – Taking a huge class drop from an allowance for this condition claimer; chance to sit and swallow them whole late.

Town Thief – Grinder type has been competitive in his last two starts facing similar; chance to surprise at a square price.

Long Shot – High Command

Race 6 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $27,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Cheese Face – It’s that man Mullins again with another live horse; her two Cushion track races showed a lot of improvement.

Honored Gold – Ran horribly in her SoCal debut, but suspect it was just a test drive; you’ll get a lot of value if she’s a go.

Long Shot – Charisma Matters

Race 7 – 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $49,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Big Bertha – Canani taking over after a dismal U.S. debut facing tougher; she has trained well and gets weight off with Talamo.

Private Dreams – Who knows what she beat in her career debut in Chile; she has the pedigree to be faster than the average bear.

Long Shot – Quite a Rush

Race 8 – 7 furlongs, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds and up

Owen Roe O’Neill – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to claiming; suspec Baze will ride with patience early on.

Dart River – You need to be a forgiving handicapper to excuse his last miserable effort; will be a much better price today.

Long Shot – Deemen’s Halo
