HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 1:20 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $60,000, Allowance, 4-year-olds and up

Corazondelcampeon – Ran like a wild horse in last, first time out under the Canani shedrow; similar effort would crush these.

Gotaghostofachance – Court would be smart to let the favorite go and just settle inside early; picks up the pieces late.

Long Shot – Bold Chieftain

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Maiden claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Flower Fusion – Many close but no cigar finishes, suspect Talamo will rate her and make one run; can sit a perfect trip.

A P Charlie – Tepid chalk is among a few taking the biggest class drop from MSW to claiming; would be no surprise in here.

Long Shot – After Curfew

Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles, $175,000 Milady Breeders’ Cup Handicap, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Hystericalady – Her race in the Humana Distaff showed a whole new side to her; she proved she can rate and fire fast late.

Balance – Part of the reason this looks like a chalky finish; Espinoza doesn’t figure to duel early with Hystericalady.

Long Shot – Nashoba’s Key

Race 4 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $27,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Marry Me Larry – Tepid chalk has early speed and may be able to set a lonesome lead; big class drop will help her a lot.

Wicket Wager – Good try off the claim by Peery, now he drops her in class in search of a win; Garcia is having a rough meet.

Long Shot – Company Secret

Race 5 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

Vice Admiral – Has run second five straight times sprinting, now will stretch out today; Talamo has a great touch to finish.

More Shine – Ran a career best effort in last in placing against similar foes; this is his third start off a 2-month hiatus.

Long Shot – Monte Bajo

Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $27,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

Sneaky Jack – Small edge in a really wide open race to start the pick 4; was much the best in last, maybe can repeat.

One Mile Belle – Has improved a lot off the claim by Monteleone two races ago; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.

Long Shot – Sugar Doll

Race 7 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $36,000, Claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up

Jake Skate – He’s never won on grass, but he is rounding back into top form; Baze saves all the ground and fights on late.

Our Finale – This is the cheapest class he’s faced in a long while; Valdivia takes the call, a world class turf rider.

Long Shot – Mad Adam

Race 8 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $49,000, Allowance, Fillies, 3-year-olds and up

Glorified – Ellis baby won her MSW as simple as you please; draws a tough post but showed plenty of class first time out.

Prime Catch – Logical chalk due to her arrival from the Baffert barn; am concerned that Garcia is in a dreadful slump.

Long Shot – Storm Queen

Race 9 – 5 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

Captain Quick – Ran well in debut for Harrington and his babies improve with racing; the fear is lots of nice looking 2-YOs.

Banana Boat Joe – Matlow win percentage second time out with maidens is high; he’s adding blinkers on off a well bet debut.

Long Shot – Overextended

Best Bet – Corazondelcampeon (race 1)

Hollywood Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/4/$21.40; Long Shots, 9/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Hollywood Totals – 516/121/$780.60; Long Shots, 253/35/$379.80; Best Bets, 30/13/$52.40
