HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 1:20 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $55,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

Kris’ Sis – Small edge in a wide open turf route; Canani adding blinkers on, she beat Musical High down at Del Mar.

Musical High – Finally won her first U.S. race last time out in Arcadia; let’s see know if she can pair up good races.

Long Shot – I Can See

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Rudeameanie – The less career starts the better in this bottom level maiden claimer; ran OK in debut and can improve.

Have a Tizzy – Been away 4-months, but showed a hint of talent in the past; working well and his race two back is good.

Long Shot – Classy Arrangement

Race 3 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $49,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Kalookan Dancer – On paper, she just seems a whole lot faster than these; will be interested to see how Valdivia rides her.

Usk Poppy – Like the turn back in distance from turf routes to this sod sprint; suspect Espinoza will come flying late.

Long Shot – Vatchesvendetta

Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Hard Alee – Claimed last year by O’Neill, need not improve much to graduate facing these; shown some spunk in the a.m.

Heza Charger – Ran fine in debut, now taking a subtle class drop in search of victory; was off very slowly in last.

Long Shot – Toppers Dream

Race 5 – 6 furlongs, $75,000 Manhattan Beach, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Sindy With an S – Lost, but was not disgraced, in her stakes debut last time; tries turf, but she’s a pretty classy lady.

Swiss Diva – Like the turn back in distance from a 2-turn route for this grass sprint; Solis will sit a trip and try late.

Long Shot – You Are the Answer

Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

Complexity – Slight choice in an impossible pick 4 opener; ran like a short horse last time off a 3-month sabbatical.

California Flag – Has run two decent races, now O’Neill hires Espinoza for the money shot; switching from turf to dirt.

Long Shot – Victory Joe

Race 7 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $31,000, Claiming $32,000, 4-year-olds and up

Prince of Gold – Hollendorfer finds a very winable spot for this NoCal shipper; tactical speed and Talamo to sit a trip.

Beltline Jack – Took to Cushion track like a duck to water; some horses we’ll see will be synthetic surface specialists.

Long Shot – Roy Jones

Race 8 – 1 1/8th miles, $250,000 Californian, 3-year-olds and up

Buzzards Bay – Ran like a dead short horse last time off a 11-month hiatus; when right, he is a top handicap horse.

Kip Deville – Like the fact Dutrow thinks enough to turn him around in only 5-days; for a lesser trainer, he’d be a toss.

Long Shot – Perfect Drift

Race 9 – 5 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

Freddie Ruth – When the experienced runners look this slow, check out the FTS; Mullins baby has win early pedigree too.

Cape Diver – FTS from low percentage barn could blow up the pick 6 and pick 4 today; she’ll be quicker than you think.

Long Shot – Lovehi

Best Bet – Kalookan Dancer (race 3)

Hollywood Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/1/$11.20; Long Shots, 8/3/$30.40; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Hollywood Totals – 482/113/$729.20; Long Shots, 238/33/$360.60; Best Bets, 28/13/$52.40
