Here is the All-State boys swimming team

First Team

Cooper DeRyk, Truckee

The sophomore was the only swimmer this season to break 21 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle (20.84). DeRyk also set a Division I-A state meet record in the 100 freestyle at 46.42.

Parker Evans, Coronado

The senior earned his second straight Division I state title in the 50 freestyle (21.49) and finished second at state in the 100 freestyle two months after being treated for testicular cancer.

Carter Grimes, Centennial

The junior pulled away on the final two laps to win his second straight Division I state title in the 100 butterfly (50.68) and also finished first at state in the 100 backstroke (52.60).

Dagen Kipling, Carson

The senior, who has committed to UNLV, won the Division I state title in the 200 individual medley by more than two seconds (1:51.53) and also was first at state in the 100 breaststroke (58.18).

Nick Lara, Boulder City

The senior was the Division I-A state champion in the 100 butterfly (51.99), and anchored the Eagles’ state title-winning 200 medley relay and was second in the 200 freestyle (1:42.16).

Nick McDowell, Durango

The senior distance specialist swept the 200 and 500 freestyles at the Division I state meet. McDowell’s winning time in the 500 (4:27.04) is the fastest in state history and is well under the automatic All-America standard. He has signed with Purdue.

Chris Miller, Sage Ridge

The Yale-bound senior standout set a Division I-A state meet record in the 200 freestyle (1:40.26) and closed strong to win his third straight state title in the 500 freestyle (4:36.44).

Timothy Newton, Coronado

The sophomore won the Division I state title in one-meter diving with a total of 428.65 points to help the Cougars finish second as a team. He also was the Sunrise Region champion.

Dylan Sweikert, Palo Verde

The sophomore was the Division I state champion in the 100 freestyle (47.35). Sweikert also anchored the victorious 200 and 400 freestyle relays as the Panthers won their fourth straight state team title.

Second Team

Mihail Amiorkov, Palo Verde

The junior finished second in the 100 backstroke, third in the 200 IM and was a member of two winning relays at the Division I state meet.

Isaac Boone, Reed

The senior was the Northern Region champion in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Boone was third and fourth in those events at the Division I state meet.

Kaden Jesperson, Foothill

The junior won the 200 IM and 500 freestyle at the Division I Sunrise Region meet and finished second at state in the latter event.

Amil Kurtagic, Sierra Vista

The junior was the Division I-A Southern Region champ in the 500 freestyle. Kurtagic was second in that event and third in the 200 freestyle at state.

David Miller, Palo Verde

The sophomore was third in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly at the Division I state meet to help the Panthers win the team title.

Matthew Myers, Green Valley

The freshman finished as the runner-up at the Division I state and Sunrise Region meets in one-meter diving.

Denver Renner, Foothill

The junior was the Division I Sunrise Region champion in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Renner finished second in both events at the state meet.

Tama Tuitama, Legacy

The sophomore took second at the Division I state meet in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke after winning those events at the Sunset Region meet.

Andy Wang, Clark

The sophomore won the Division I-A state title in the 100 backstroke. Wang’s winning time of 52.06 was No. 1 in the state, regardless of classification.

Coach of the Year

Sara Carroll, Boulder City

Carroll, who completed her 23rd season as Eagles coach, guided a young team to its fourth consecutive state team title in Division I-A, and sixth straight overall. Boulder City had only three individual champions but was first in two of the three relays to win by 25 points over Sierra Vista.
