December 19, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Bishop Gorman will host a 12-team boys basketball tournament in its new gym beginning today.
Highlighting the field is Gorman, which is ranked second in the area, along with Bishop O’Connell (Va.) and Denver East, the defending 5A state champions from Colorado.
Bishop O’Connell features three players — sophomore Kendall Marshall (North Carolina), senior Jason Clark (Georgetown) and senior Frank Ben-Eze (Harvard) — who have committed to Division I schools.
Other local schools involved are Spring Valley, Foothill and Faith Lutheran. Reno, led by Duke-bound forward Olek Czyz, and Elko represent Northern Nevada.
Games will begin at 2 p.m. today. On Friday, action tips off at 12:30 p.m., and Saturday’s first game will be at 11 a.m.
The championship game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
