Las Vegas golfers eliminated in women’s amateur

Las Vegas’ Morgan Goldstein and Veronica Joels were eliminated in the second round of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball championship Tuesday in Bandon, Ore., losing 1-up to Ellen Takada of Irvine, Calif., and Alyaa Abdulghany of Newport Beach, Calif.

Goldstein and Joels had won their opening match at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, defeating Terese Romeo of Tampa, Fla., and Mary Janiga of West Palm Beach, Fla., 6 and 5, to advance to the round of 16. Their match with Takada and Abdulghany was all square heading to the final hole. But the California duo made eagle at the par-5 18th while Goldstein and Joels could only make par and were eliminated.
