Charley Hoffman Foundation Pro-Am set for Oct. 18

PGA Tour winner, University of Nevada, Las Vegas alum and Las Vegas resident Charley Hoffman has announced the Charley Hoffman Foundation Pro-Am on Oct. 18. The event will be played at TPC Summerlin, the host course of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, an official PGA Tour tournament that takes place that week.

Hoffman and his wife, Stacy, created the foundation in 2009 to raise awareness and financial support for a variety of children’s charities in their native San Diego as well as their adopted hometown of Las Vegas. This will be Hoffman’s first pro-am event in Las Vegas and will benefit the following Las Vegas charities: Blessings in a Backpack, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Las Vegas, as well as the Transportation Fund of the local Zelzah Shrine Temple.

The modified shamble will start at 1 p.m. after Hoffman provides a clinic, divulging the secrets of his great golf game. Concluding play, participating amateurs and professionals will honor winners at a reception on The Hill, the tournament’s entertainment pavilion, overlooking the 18th hole .

Entry fees are $2,000 per player and $7,000 for a foursome. Space is limited. For questions and to register for the event, contact Erica Lee at 589-4949 or elee@jtshrinersopen.com.

Angel Park Golf Club awards scholarship to Evan Salcido

Angel Park Golf Club recently awarded Evan Salcido with a $500 Angel Park/OB Sports Cardholder Scholarship. The scholarship is one of many value-added benefits of the OB Sports Golf Card — Las Vegas, an annual frequent-player program that offers preferred green fees at Angel Park (and other local clubs) along with a bunch of other perks.

The scholarship is available to the cardholder’s college-bound dependents. They simply submit an application, letters of recommendation and any other pertinent information, and Angel Park’s scholarship committee awards the scholarship to one student based on the merits of his/her high school achievements. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based OB Sports Golf Management established the scholarship program in 2008 at a number of golf clubs under its management .
