Play briefly stopped in Thursday night’s NFL preseason game in Baltimore to allow fans and players to watch footage of Olympic star Michael Phelps winning the gold medal in the 200-meter IM in Rio de Janeiro.
The event was shown on the scoreboard during a break in the fourth quarter. The crowd at M&T Stadium cheered as Phelps, a Baltimore native, reached the finish line. Players for both Carolina and Baltimore stopped to watch the event.
The Panthers lost to the Ravens, 22-19, in the preseason opener for both teams.
