FISHING REPORT

• LAKE MEAD — Winds put a damper on fishing in the past week, but overall fishing for striped bass continues to be good. Anglers have seen the action pick up along the beaches and have been reeling in fish from 4 to 8 pounds, with some pushing past 10.
The stripers still are keying on shad despite the presence of stocked rainbow trout.
In the Vegas Bay arm, fish in the 1- to 3-pound category still are taking cut bait. At B-5 road, anglers have been catching stocked rainbows and striped bass.
Baits resembling shad and rainbow trout have been taking stripers. PowerBait, Panther Martins, Mepp’s spinners and silver Kastmasters have been taking trout.
• LAKE MOHAVE — Last weekend’s storms kept many anglers at bay, but others took advantage of the low fishing pressure to catch a few rainbow trout near the outflow stream from the Willow Beach Fish Hatchery.
Those who caught fish were using PowerBait, Rooster Tails or nightcrawlers. Striped bass fishing has slowed, though Bomber Long A lures have caught fish.
At Cottonwood Cove, fishing is fair to good with reports of fish weighing in at 10 pounds plus. Trout plants should trigger bites.
• LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — Small spinners, PowerBait and tiny flies have been taking stocked rainbows. For hardware, try Panther Martins, Mepp’s spinners or Super Dupers. Fly anglers have succeeded with Copper Johns, Pheasant Tails and bead-head Hares Ears in size 18.
• EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Ice conditions are not safe for traditional ice fishing, but those willing to brave the cold can drill holes adjacent to the dock and fish from there. Try PowerBait or jigging lures.
• ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — Thin ice covers the reservoir, and it remains unsafe for fishing.
• KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — Thin ice covering the reservoirs isn’t safe for fishing.
