TODAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK by Richard Eng

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 1/8th miles (turf), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

3 Big Cazanova – Ran decently in a well bet U.S. debut; has enough tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.

4 Sammy Mandeville – Typical green debut, slow early, fast late; like the rider switch to Rafael Bejarano.

Long Shot – 2 Pantera Rojo

Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

1 Magna Warrior – Had the misfortune of chasing Hoppertunity last time out; his race two back is competitive here.

7 Crux – Logical chalk ran well in debut for Ron Ellis; don’t mind the parking lot post to clock the early speed.

Long Shot – 6 Sing With Bling

Race 3 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up

1 My Jealous – Won like a bandit in last, now is dropped in class; short price with Rafael Bejarano for Doug O’Neill.

3 Xuang Feng – Ran a good finish in this low class two races ago; gets the weight off with bugboy Drayden Van Dyke.

Long Shot – 2 Senator Bob

Race 4 – 1 1/8th miles (turf), $200,000 Honeymoon, Fillies, 3-year-olds

5 Diversy Harbor – The two favorites have had their own personal duel in recent stakes; time to turn the tables, again.

1 Nashoba’s Key – Got the jump last time to earn a narrow win in the Providencia; not much separating these two.

Long Shot – 6 Margot Machance

Race 5 – 1 mile, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 L X Sunrise – Big rider switch to Tyler Baze for the money shot; frustrating three seconds in a row.

7 Madame Forbes – Not seen in 11 months since a solid debut effort; key vote for me comes from Rafael Bejarano.

Long Shot – 11 Yur Teasing Me

Race 6 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf), Purse $30,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

2 Fighting On – Has finished in the money seven straight starts over a lengthy period; shown a fondness for the hill.

9 Fly Boy Roy – Interesting Midwest newcomer for the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer; expect improvement in SoCal debut.

Long Shot – 7 Bobby Z Man

Race 7 – 7 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

10 Airfoil – Do not mind a parking lot post in an elongated sprint; likes to sit back in arrears and make one brush.

2 Reno Rebel – Kentucky Derby winning jockey Victor Espinoza and trainer Art Sherman are on quite a roll; kudos to them.

Long Shot – 5 Raised a Secret

Race 8 – 1 miles, Purse $35,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds and up

1 Causeithertz – Lot of respect in this corner for the team of Bob Baffert and Rafael Bejarano; saves all of the ground.

3 Swift Eagle – Tepid chalk in a really wide open finale; finally broke thru with a turf victory last time out.

Long Shot – 12 Mind the Master

Best Bet – 5 Diversy Harbor (race 4)
