Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, October 10

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $19,000, Claiming $10,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

4 Silk in Silver – Claimed by Kristin Mulhall off a sharp win; she doesn’t need to improve him, just get a repeat performance.

6 Putahexonher – Second start off the claim by Jack Carava; slides down in class from $16K to $10K for the money shot.

Long Shot – 2 Sydney’s Darling

Race 2 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 2-year-olds

2 Dr. Vincentstein – Claimed by Vladimir Cerin off a pop and stop effort; is dropped way down in class where many don’t pass.

4 Speedy Tornado – Another taking a huge class drop; faced much tougher foes at Del Mar, will have no such excuse tonight.

Long Shot – 7 Dance Dee a Door O

Race 3 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

1 Battle of Evermore – Beaten favorite at Del Mar, returns on the turf at Santa Anita; both his starts were over synthetics.

8 Willing to Travel – Parking lot posts are an advantage down the hillside turf course; began his career in Chicago for Mike Reavis.

Long Shot – 7 Metaboss

Race 4 – 1 mile, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

8 Kirov – Leandro Mora is the trainer of record with Doug O’Neill serving a lengthy suspension; this filly has a big upside.

1 Fascinating – Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry so caveat emptor; has been away a year since a good try in the Chandelier.

Long Shot – 7 Firefly

Race 5 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $40,000, Claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

1 Fantastic Mizz – Like the cut back in distance from a mile for this; don’t love the post, but the turf rail is out 30 feet.

2 Blake’s Magic – Makes her first start in new barn of trainer Mike Pupye; her races on Arcadia turf and down the hill are good.

Long Shot – 6 Sunset Skies

Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Nueva Fortuna – Ron Ellis claimed this filly two races ago; is dropped down in class and should be double tough in here.

1 Tim’s Go Girl – Third start off the claim by Doug O’Neill, I mean Leandro Mora; has good tactical speed to sit a nice trip.

Long Shot – 6 Small Moves

Race 7 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up

4 Te Rapa – Hard trying gelding runs first time for a price tag; suspect it’s a sign his best days are well behind him.

7 Kulik Lodge – Mike Smith has a way of winning a lot more photo finishes than he loses; this Curlin colt has a high ceiling.

Long Shot – 8 Ethnic Dance

Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

2 Miz Penelope – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; like the cut back in distance too.

9 Freakin Amazing – Tepid chalk in a wide open finale; drops in class for Roberto Diodoro, who will leg up Aaron Gryder.

Long Shot – 3 Collateral

Best Bet – 1 Fantastic Mizz (race 5)
