Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 8 feet), Purse $47,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Letthepartybegin – Even debut, now Ron Ellis adding blinkers on; his babies definitely improve the second time out.
5 Spring Bloom – Thrice beaten favorite will be a very short price the fourth race in a row; strictly the one to beat.
Long Shot – 1 Passionville
Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
2 Muchos Besos – The key to this pick is he broke his maiden at Santa Anita a year ago; recent ugly races will add to his price.
1 Candy Waltz – Logical chalk is taking a huge class drop to face these; must respect from the live John Sadler barn.
Long Shot – 5 Buds Pal
Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Claiming $25,000, 2-year-olds
4 Bubba Fizz – Mike Mitchell charge gets class relief for this; facing a very slow group, he’ll come rumbling late.
6 K Court – Ran miserably last time with blinkers on; the hood comes off and he is dropped in for a modest price tag.
Long Shot – 2 True Again
Race 4 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 8 feet), Purse $47,000, 2-year-olds
9 Power Ped – Interesting debut second to Rolling Fog who then won the Del Mar Futurity; figures to be a very short price.
3 Zippingaroundtown – Flattered when Carving won next out for Bob Baffert; adding blinkers on and Tyler Baze.
Long Shot – 10 Aerial Artist
Race 5 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Chloe W – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; runs first time over organic dirt.
11 Flashy Delight – FTS is the only Bob Baffert horse on the card; has some bullet works, watch the tote board for clues.
Long Shot – 6 Prettypriceygirl
Race 6 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 8 feet), Purse $50,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Glee – Favored in U.S. debut and ran like a short horse; should be tighter in second try for trainer Mike Mitchell.
5 Kilted Tilt – Ran a strong speed race in last off a 10-month hiatus; note that Victor Espinoza is winless for this meet.
Long Shot – 8 Lemon Hero
Race 7 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up
8 Frenzo – Gets the ultimate equipment change, first time gelding; should fit well at this reduced class.
4 Willie Brown – Tepid chalk in the hardest race on the card; dead late closer is cutting way back in distance too.
Long Shot – 6 Free Time
Race 8 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 8 feet), Purse $50,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds
1 Shadow Runner – Former Calder charge has run three good SoCal races for Mike Machowsky; should get a nice rail skimming ride.
6 You Know I Know – Reunited with Rafael Bejarano who won on him two races ago; showed tactical speed that day.
Long Shot – 7 A Toast to You
Race 9 – 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Twirlybird – This race is so poor, you must respect the FTS; Peter Miller knows how to pop first time out of the box.
10 Silver Luna – Of the ones with experience, she’s been in the money 12-of-21 times; will be running on late.
Long Shot – 1 Sugar Spice
Best Bet – 4 Chloe W (race 5)
Santa Anita Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 19/4/$39.80; Long Shots, 10/2/$43.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Santa Anita Totals – 195/44/$350.40; Long Shots, 100/17/$183.80; Best Bets, 11/3/$9.20
