Post Time 3 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 1/4 miles (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds and up

5 Street Maven – Has gone 2-for-2 on grass since claimed by Doug O’Neill; if they go slow enough, he’ll last the marathon distance.

4 Timeless Indy – May be the speed of the speed if he outbreaks Monastic; speed is a big asset with the turf rail out 30 feet.

Long Shot – 6 Monastic

Race 2 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $23,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds

1 Runaway Que – Has had 5-weeks since his clutch win in last; now stretching out in distance, basically has only one horse to beat.

3 Image of Joplin – He runs back on short rest off a game victory in last; it came in a 2-turn mile, which should be a benefit.

Long Shot – 2 Baranof

Race 3 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $28,000, Starter handicap $12,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

2 Loveintheshadows – NoCal invader has been beating better at Golden Gate; this is a motley crew, aggressive spot for trainer Bill McLean.

7 Lindz Winz – Stretching out in distance around 2-turns after a career of sprinting; expect Corey Nakatani to save horse for the end.

Long Shot – 6 Silk in Silver

Race 4 – 5 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds

7 Atta’ Boy Woody – Even the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer is giving new boy Elvis Trujillo a shot; kid is making the best of the opportunity.

1 Goyo – FTS from the Walther Solis barn; drawing the rail is a big positive in this abbreviated sprint distance.

Long Shot – 6 Full Bird Colonel

Race 5 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $30,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

3 Hanserella – Has run in the money 8-of-14 times on grass; none of these are win machines, but she runs creditable on turf a lot.

7 Backintheacademy – Rare show of early speed last time, and she paid the price; her better races are when she has a target to chase.

Long Shot – 1 Contessa B.

Race 6 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Claiming $10,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Chippette – Big trainer switch to Peter Miller barn; like that he hires California Chrome jockey Victor Espinoza.

1 Eltoninadress – Claimed by Robertino Diodoro off a game second; has been very productive at this lower class level.

Long Shot – 3 Mary Contrary

Race 7 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds

3 Quotient – Talk about class relief, exits a third in the American Turf for this; most anyone in that field would be favored today.

4 I’ll Wrap It Up – Doug O’Neill is having a special season at Santa Anita; he has been a supporter of eastern rider Elvis Trujillo.

Long Shot – 1 Sheila’s Footsteps

Race 8 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

4 L X Sunrise – After two good seconds, she now faces the slowest group of her life; repeat of last may be good enough to win.

2 Coconut Cream Pie – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; like that Tyler Baze stays for the finale.

Long Shot – 5 Editor’s Cut
