Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, April 11

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds and up

3 Grand Humor – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; ran for $40K once and ran a good third.

4 Bad Behavior – Another taking a steep class drop from MSW to maiden claiming; this cull is from the Bob Baffert barn.

Long Shot – 5 Como Mi Padre

Race 2 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

5 Joint Attempt – John Sadler barn may have lost the big Derby preps; he seems to win everything else though.

4 Gray Madam – Won first off the claim by Steve Miyadi; looks cheap on paper in NoCal, but $8K SoCal stock isn’t much either.

Long Shot – 1 Unkept Rendez Vous

Race 3 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

8 Fast Moka Too – Won her last easier than it looked; she has natural early speed and a cozy parking lot post for Ron Ellis.

3 Nueva Fortuna – Sharp win in last for Bill Spawr and Agapito Delgadillo; adding blinkers on may have done the trick.

Long Shot – 4 Sneezy Beezy

Race 4 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $25,000, Claiming $25,000, 4-year-olds and up

6 Harness Mentality – Like the class drop for turning in a good effort; square price should hold up with these connections.

1 Warren’s Cliff S. – With the turf rail out 15 feet, the rail and speed are assets; ran two back is fast enough to upset these.

Long Shot – 7 Elusive Journey

Race 5 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

3 Dulcemia – Javier Sierra remains under the radar this meet; using 5-pound bugboy Drayden Van Dyke is like stealing.

7 Chautauqua Creek – Been away a full year, but returns at a much reduced class; the tote board will tell you what to do.

Long Shot – 1 Hot Outta the Oven

Race 6 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $58,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

9 Anniversary Kitty – Huge class drop from stakes for this first level allowance; need not be much horse to defeat these.

4 Lil Swiss Echo – Off slowly in last and had to rally from too far back; will like the slower pace going a 2-turn mile route.

Long Shot – 7 Chilada

Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs, $75,000 Santa Paula, Fillies, 3-year-olds

9 Taste Like Candy – Class relief from three graded stakes for this much easier spot; expect a Rafael Bejarano special ride.

1 L T Reckless – The light switch is turned on after the last two victories; speed and the rail, take it to the limit.

Long Shot – 8 Satirical

Race 8 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

4 Jennyway U Want It – Really woke up on turf last time out; when horses show they like the hill, you can count on it.

5 Warren’s Jen Fizz – Another who woke up big time on grass and down the hill; like Rafael Bejarano riding in the finale.

Long Shot – 7 More Complexity

Best Bet – 9 Taste Like Candy (race 7)

Santa Anita Park Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/7/$35.20; Long Shots, 7/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Santa Anita Park Totals – 1,053/300/$1,896.60; Long Shots, 519/74/$794.40; Best Bets, 64/31/$142.60
