January 26, 2012 - 2:03 am
Today at Santa Anita Park
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 mile, Purse $30,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
2 Teardrops On Fire – Has run 3 good races, now stretching out around 2-turns by Thunder Gulch, Belmont Stakes winner.
3 My Trickster – Mike Mitchell has a good resume with South Florida imports; like that Joel Rosario takes the call.
Long Shot – 4 Scream Queen
Race 2 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
1 Jaredella – Could be a Joel Rosario daily double; been second best the last 3 times out, tries 2-turns tonight.
5 Let’s Go Cheyenne – Interesting speedball from Vladimir Cerin; will enjoy the turf rail out 15 feet.
Long Shot – 2 Kissable
Race 3 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
4 Sky Diver – Has the best pedigree among these and is a FTS; the ones with experience look like a limited bunch.
2 Chilling Command – Appears fastest among those who have started; has tactical speed to sit a good trip throughout.
Long Shot – 1 Silverport
Race 4 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds
1 Tenacious Thomas – Beat a good group including Consulado who won next out; flashed high cheese from post 11, the rail today.
5 Unusual Heatwave – Graduated down the hill last time; good sign because those who like the hillside, tend to repeat good races.
Long Shot – 7 Tiz Point
Race 5 – 1 mile, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, 4-year-olds and up
4 Uncle Greg – Tiny edge in a motley crew; he is 1-for-23 lifetime, but lots of others look much worse than him.
9 Emperor Stone – Only for forgiving handicappers; was eased in last, but his prior races are OK and these are his friends.
Long Shot – 7 Sentry Duty
Race 6 – 7 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds
8 Visible Marq – Bob Baffert cull is sliding down the maiden claiming ladder; chased uncoupled stablemate Sir Allison last out.
3 Towering – A second Mike Mitchell Florida import on the card; if My Trickster wins race 1, keep a closer eye on this guy.
Long Shot – 9 Congrats Ski
Race 7 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
2 Bwana Babe – Steve Asmussen import looks to be the speed of the speed; Corey Nakatani breaks on top, plays catch me if you can.
4 Miss Radiance – Tried to overcome a poor start in last to no avail; will have an easier task with an average beginning.
Long Shot – 5 Screaming Regal
Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
10 Babessa – Key for me is Rafael Bejarano returns despite and awful looking line; suspect she’ll improve a lot tonight.
6 Warren’s Performer – Ran well as a beaten favorite from post 10 in last; draws midrange and has speed to carve out his own trip.
Long Shot – 8 Creston Cutie
Best Bet – 1 Tenacious Thomas (race 4)
