6 Tio Vic – Tepid chalk mainly because of the connections; don’t expect much value from Rafeal Bejarano and Jerry Hollendorfer.
Long Shot – 5 Big Hands Al
Race 2 – 1 mile, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 4-year-olds and up
10 McCarroll – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much to handle this crew.
3 Sidepocket Kid – Been in the money 3-of-8 starts which makes him look like Superman in here; will be grinding late.
Long Shot – 5 Spicy Beau
Race 3 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $30,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
5 Five Silver Stars – Could be another win for the team of Rafael Bejarano and Jerry Hollendorfer; has shown promise on grass.
2 Ayoumilove – Claimed by Kristin Mulhall off a gritty win; has enough back class to maybe repeat the race today.
Long Shot – 10 Sleep Tight
Race 4 – 1 mile, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds
8 Teraad – Has run two good races albeit up in NoCal; the gap is clearly shrinking between horses up north and here in SoCal.
4 Corner Office – Second best last out to a daylight victor; can be his turn today if he improves just one step.
Long Shot – 6 Puff Pastry
Race 5 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, 4-year-olds and up
5 Clear to Canada – Has shown improvement since claimed by Peter Miller; these are his friends at this bottom class rung.
6 High Success – Beat the favorite last time in a miraculous finish; not sure if he can repeat that incredible comeback.
Long Shot – 4 Spectacular Slew
Race 6 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $22,000, Starter allowance $12,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
5 Skinny Genes – May not look like it, but she is taking a big class drop to face these; like the work of trainer Vann Belvoir.
4 Sheskey – Key vote is that Joel Rosario opted to ride; has tactical speed, an edge with the turf rail out 30 feet.
Long Shot – 1 Vikkilee
Race 7 – 6 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $50,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds
3 Motown Men – Tiny edge in a well matched field; this one lost all chance last time when stumbled badly at the start.
1 Exotic Slew – His last two races have shown big improvement; sometimes it takes a young horse a few starts to get it.
Long Shot – 2 Johnny Be Mine
Race 8 – 1 mile, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds
10 Stormy Bob – Debut looked like a test drive; Mike Mitchell wins second out at 55 percent, could be the key stat on this one.
6 Midnight Con – Jeff Mullins has awoken like Rip Van Winkle; his barn is hot and he is not to be ignored.
