Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $57,200, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
4 Gab Power – Just missed last out with a powerful close; due to get lucky with his patented late rally.
3 Senator Bob – Speedball figures to try and steal the verdict; goes as fast and as far as he can.
Long Shot – 6 Kim’s Leading Man
Race 2 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Queenofcalifornia – Showed a new stalking style in last; may benefit in a slow-looking field.
8 Tic N Chilly – FTS from Mike Mitchell is the morning line chalk; watch the tote board for clues.
Long Shot – 9 Imperial Suite
Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $18,700, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
8 Advice – Claimed by Gus Headley off a solid second; figures to get overlooked by others, offers value.
6 Ballestero – Logical chalk was claimed in last by Mike Mitchell; one-step improvement and he can win.
Long Shot – 2 Lease of Life
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $55,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
9 Making Papa Proud – Was meant for better in last as a beaten favorite; like that Rafael Bejarano remains loyal.
3 Checkmark – Tepid chalk in a harder-than-looks race; second in 3-of-4 recent starts, overdue for racing luck.
Long Shot – 10 Minister d’Oro
Race 5 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $18,700, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Shawklit Sundae – Logical chalk will win with a repeat of her last 2 starts; cheap horses have trouble holding form.
3 Meadow Lake Queen – Tough trip in last, nearly eased, then vanned off; a pick only for forgiving handicappers.
Long Shot – 8 Afleet Sara
Race 6 – 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $57,200, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
6 Sterling Outlook – Showed speed in last then stopped like he was shot; Mike Mitchell drops way down in class today.
8 Kilkenny – Ran OK in U.S. debut, was flattered when Caughta Flyer won next out; should improve a step or two.
Long Shot – 3 Golden Mexico
Race 7 – 6 furlongs, $100,000 Hollywood Juvenile Championship, 2-year-olds
8 Majestic City – Not sure how far he wants to go; as long as the baby races are 1 turn, he’ll be a reckoning.
1 Brigand – Bob Baffert baby draws the advantageous rail; uncoupled entry, Joel Rosario for Martin Garcia.
Long Shot – 5 Night Tide
Race 8 – 1 1/2 miles (turf), $100,000 Sunset Handicap, 3-year-olds and up
1 Imponente Purse – I’ve been trying to catch this horse to no avail; with Acclimation gone, it’s a wide-open affair.
6 Celtic New Year – Speed to lead or sit close up; that style wins more often in marathon affairs like this.
Long Shot – 5 Falcon Rock
Race 9 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $55,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds
4 Natalie’s Academy – The experienced starters don’t look like much; among many FTS who haven’t disgraced themselves yet.
9 River Kiss – You’ll have a big edge over me in seeing the tote board action; the wise money can point out the way.
Long Shot – 1 Ali’s Lake
Best Bet – 1 Imponente Purse (race 8)
Hollywood Park Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/6/$29.20; Long Shots, 10/2/$12.40; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – 7 Judy the Beauty (5/2) in race 8 at Woodbine. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Saturday, Banned ran second at Colonial Downs paying $4.80 to place and $3.80 to show. Stats – 115/72/$588.20
