Post Time 12:30 p.m.
Race 1 – 6 furlongs, Purse $28,500, Maiden claiming $62,500, 2-year-olds
5 Sir Allison – Second best to stablemate Liaison last out; surprised Bob Baffert puts up the for sale sign so soon.
1 J Man – Has threatened to run a good one all 3 times out; saves all the ground inside against a motley crew.
Long Shot – 6 Where’s Henry
Race 2 – 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $27,000, Claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
3 Macho Dorado – Is 4-for-6 wins at this odd distance; clearly has a ton of back class to handle a group like this.
2 Caper’s Edge – Huge class drop points to a major contender; like that Rafael Bejarano remains loyal to the cause.
Long Shot – 6 Kim’s Leading Man
Race 3 – 1 mile (turf), Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
7 Batalha – Ran evenly in a test drive debut; is bred top and bottom to adore grass, should relish the sod and distance.
2 Fluxx – Huge late run in last as a 42/1 bomber; P Val will be off all of his mounts today, and likely for a while.
Long Shot – 6 Mending Wall
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $34,000, Claiming $32,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
2 Bonita Star – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low class; Mike Mitchell has an uncoupled entry in here.
4 Si Mar’s Dear – Appears Mike Mitchell has this race surrounded; this gal has more speed than her silent partner.
Long Shot – 5 Carousel
Race 5 – 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $48,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
7 Husband’s Folly – Exploded with a win and career best race in turf debut; he could be a nice looking turf sprinter.
1 Lakerville – Overcame an awkward start to rally and win going away; the rail is good in Inglewood sod sprints.
Long Shot – 8 Cranky Jack
Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds
7 Exotic Slew – Two frustrating seconds in a row; if he improves one step, he could get his photo taken tonight.
2 Corner Office – FTS from John Sadler; a lot of those with experience look too slow, thus newcomers deserve a look.
Long Shot – 4 Neurosurgeon
Race 7 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $48,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
4 Bluegrass Reward – Crushing win first time out for Mike Mitchell; repeat race could be a repeat verdict.
1 Spud Spivens – Henry Moreno knows what to do with a good horse; can save all the ground inside for Garrett Gomez.
Long Shot – 2 Arraignment
Race 8 – 1 1/2 miles (turf), $250,000 Hollywood Turf Cup, 3-year-olds and up
7 Sanagas – I think the Eastern grass horses are better than the west; from top trainer Graham Motion, this one fits.
1 Bourbon Bay – Probably did not want the lead in the Northern Dancer; he’ll run better today covered up inside.
Long Shot – 3 Falcon Rock
Race 9 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
2 Bella’s Fantasy – Bob Baffert cull taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much.
10 Candy and Nuts – Rallied well last time to threaten the winner; like the parking lot post to clock the cheap speed.
Long Shot – 5 Kvell
Best Bet – 7 Sanagas (race 8)
Hollywood Park Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/6/$35.60; Long Shots, 7/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Park Totals – 80/26/$150.20; Long Shots, 41/4/$40.40; Best Bets, 5/3/$8.40
SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #4 Redeemed (7/5) in race 8 at Aqueduct. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Friday, King of Lourdes won at Churchill Downs. Stats – 176/114/$905.90. Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
