HORSE RACING

Today at Hollywood Park

By Richard Eng

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 – 5 furlongs, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

3 Ohhh a Wise Guy – Sliding down the maiden claiming ladder to this career low class; need not be much to handle these.

6 Looking Out – Showed improvement with the addition of blinker’s on; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.

Long Shot – 10 Nana Beach

Race 2 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $16,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up

4 North Fork – Second by a nose last out in first start for Mike Mitchell; suspect old timer will improve one step tonight.

3 Morganouska – Speedball sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low class; he figures to provide the target.

Long Shot – 8 Clear to Canada

Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

1 There Is No Limit – Off the turf and returns to her preferred surface, dirt; she won twice cross town over Fairplex dirt.

4 She’s Very Rare – Steep class drop offers her a chance to win again; third start since claimed from Mike Mitchell.

Long Shot – 3 Kiss My Swiss

Race 4 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

2 Getting Lucky – Tries turf for the first time; has been an in and outer, hopefully he bucks the trend and runs good here.

5 Shy Humor – Tepid chalk in an open looking MSW; claimed by Doug O’Neill off a decent debut for Vann Belvoir.

Long Shot – 4 Grumpy’s Pick

Race 5 – 6 furlongs, Purse $48,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up

5 Fast Bullet – Second start after an impressive debut win; he may not want to go 2-turns, but he’ll be hard to handle here.

1 Speed Bias – Speedball figures to provide the target for the chalk; suspect he didn’t beat a thing at Turf Paradise.

Long Shot – 4 Wall Dance

Race 6 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $52,000, Optional claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

7 Farley Star – Game win in last as the favorite; slow pace allowed her to sit close, expect a faster pace tonight.

4 Anniversary Girl – Garrett Gomez for Joel Rosario who had other choices in here; dead late closer will fly fast late.

Long Shot – 6 Hard to Resist

Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 2-year-olds

7 The Bien’s Gift – Ran evenly in debut, which is better than most in the field; this is a really slow group.

2 Warren’s Wasco Son – FTS must be considered compared to the others with experience; watch the tote board for clues.

Long Shot – 6 Reinvent

Race 8 – 1 1/16th miles, $100,000 Real Quiet, 2-year-olds

6 Liaison – Sure looks like he’s meant to be a decent sort; like his running style of stalk and pounce in the lane.

1 Senor Rain – Won his 2-turn debut in last over a modest field; suspect will protect the rail post by leaving swiftly.

Long Shot – 4 Tiz Point

Race 9 – 6 furlongs, Purse $34,000, Claiming $32,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

1 Lasso From El Paso – Broke her maiden for a price tag, now wears one again; speed to sit the rail and get a good trip.

3 Nicos Memory – Another who exits the Anoakia for a $32K price tag; class relief should improve his performance here.

Long Shot – 8 I Sense Your Luck

Best Bet – 5 Fast Bullet (race 5)

Hollywood Park Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/5/$30.40; Long Shots, 8/1/$10.40; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.00

Hollywood Park Totals – 16/5/$30.40; Long Shots, 8/1/$10.40; Best Bets, 1/1/$3.00

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #12 Louvakhova (6/1) in race 9 at Churchill Downs. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Friday, Coosada won at Churchill Downs paying $4.80 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.40 to show. Stats – 174/114/$905.90. Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
