Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $18,000, Claiming $10,000, 4-year-olds and up
2 Capt. Sparrow – Claimed by Jack Carava who is grinding out winners this meet; expect improvement, the one to beat.
6 Warrens Attack Cat – NoCal shipper tries a bit tougher in the south; more and more NoCal trainers are coming south.
Long Shot – 3 Troubletimesthree
Race 2 – 1 mile, Purse $54,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds
2 Around the Twig – Ran a winning race for this MSW class in last; repeat effort will get her photo taken.
6 Love Theway Youare – Sprinter stretching out has better speed than one might think; logical contender going long.
Long Shot – 5 Satin Bouquet
Race 3 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $38,000, Claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds
1a Montellano – Has 3 career wins, which dwarfs the resumes in this field; tough Jack Carava entry offers insurance.
3 Polished Nickel – Explosive maiden claiming win off the claim by Kathy Walsh; find out tonight if he’s for real.
Long Shot – 5 Got Milch
Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up
8 Jakey Boy – Big rider switch to Martin Garcia for the money shot; showed big improvement in last, facing an awful bunch.
6 K. Jems – Often times the less starts the better at this bottom class level; ran evenly in debut, taken to improve some.
Long Shot – 3 Bold and Brave
Race 5 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $59,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds and up
7 Bogie – Tiny edge in a really hard turf marathon; second start off an 8-month hiatus, can show more improvement.
6 Ace of Aces – Speedball stretching out from sprint to grass marathon; should be able to set a desireable pace.
Long Shot – 5 Waltzing With Blue
Race 6 – 5 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
2 Go Sophia – Dueled into a very fast pace in last; third start off a 2-month hiatus can be her best one.
3 Queenofcalifornia – Did a classic pop and stop in last under P Val; big class drop, she may boss these from the get go.
Long Shot – 7 Three Cuties
Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $56,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds
10 Diamond Geezah – Like the parking lot post in this field jammed with early speed; showed guts winning in last.
9 Chin’n Tonic – This is another impossible heat to predict; there is a ton of early speed, I like the closers.
Long Shot – 7 D’pendable
Race 8 – 5 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
9 No Apology – The only reason I picked her is I think she’ll be in front early; may be a no-passing-zone race.
2 Express Herself – The less starts the better in this nondescript bunch; a FTS has shown a couple of decent workouts.
Long Shot – 8 Warren’s Genius
Best Bet – 2 Around the Twig (race 2)
Santa Anita Park Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/2/$9.80; Long Shots, 9/3/$32.60; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Santa Anita Park Totals – 740/201/$1,265.10; Long Shots, 371/55/$544.00; Best Bets, 43/16/$65.50
SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY – 2 Capital Fellow (2/1) in race 6 at Laurel Park. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Coaltown Legend was scratched at Aqueduct. Stats – 41/30/$242.00
