TODAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK

Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 mile, Purse $16,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
5 Alpine Yodel – Claimed by Jack Carava for $25k, runs her back for $8k; it’s a red flag, but sticks out like a sore thumb.
3 Lucy Got Lucky – Won last time and ran a slower Beyer, a long shot angle of mine; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.
Long Shot – 2 Saint’s Crown
Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Claiming $50,000, 4-year-olds and up
1 Sea Rascal – Logical chalk was a narrow winner over some of these in last; saves all the ground under Rafael Bejarano.
4 Italian Rules – Interesting rider switch to Joel Rosario; suspect he may try and take back a bit off the early pace.
Long Shot – 2 Nikki’sgoldensteed
Race 3 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $54,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
2 Tashzara – Was closing like a freight train in last when a stride short; tighter in second start off a 2-month hiatus.
5 Mutually Benefit – Even run when third behind the favorite in last; Garrett Gomez had a bit of a tight stretch run.
Long Shot – 1 Crazyforlovingyou
Race 4 – 7 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds
4 Diamond Touch – Ran awful in last, but like that Rafael Bejarano remains loyal; his race two back can upset these.
9 Call Me Later – Tepid chalk in a wide-open affair; like the parking lot post in this 7-furlong elonated sprint.
Long Shot – 7 Eddingtonforgianna
Race 5 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $56,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up
6 Tiz a Bud Girl – Trainer John Sadler is winning big and small races alike; this gal can close in a contested turf test.
7 She’sfitforaking – Has mixed it up with many of these lately; the winner will be the one with the best trip.
Long Shot – 5 Shes a Lucky Wager
Race 6 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
11 Flashy Traveler – Ran second in this low class two races ago at Hollywood Park; tactical speed to sit a good trip.
4 L’Enchanteresse – Tepid chalk in a harder-than-looks race; she is plunging down in class, but has run some faster races.
Long Shot – 2 Pat Olcott
Race 7 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $59,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds and up
7 Bogie – Kept good company this spring in turf stakes; he still has a high ceiling and is teamed with Garrett Gomez in return.
1 Irrefutable – Speedball from white-hot trainer Bob Baffert; will like the turf rail out 24 feet and the inside post draw.
Long Shot – 8 Times Gone By
Race 8 – 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up
3 Armenian Star – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; expect P Val to put him into the race.
8 Our Last Monte – Tepid chalk ran well enough to beat these in last; one step improvement makes him the one to beat.
Long Shot – 5 Afleet Cowboy
Best Bet – 2 Tashzara (race 3)
Santa Anita Park Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/7/$39.80; Long Shots, 8/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Santa Anita Park Totals – 464/127/$799.30; Long Shots, 232/31/$316.40; Best Bets, 27/12/$44.90
SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY – 10 Capital Market (5/2) in race 7 at Tampa Bay Downs. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Perjury ran second at Gulfstream Park paying $4.00 to place and $3.00 to show. Stats – 26/21/$177.70
