Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 mile, Purse $28,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds
4 Toy – Calder shippers have a solid history of performing well in SoCal; Jeff Mullins has a good pipeline from Florida.
3 Twice the Appeal – Sharp maiden claiming win last time, his first for a price tag; like that Garrett Gomez remains loyal.
Long Shot – 5 Vote of Approval
Race 2 – 1 mile, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
5 Lemon Drop Ridge – Big switches to Jerry Hollendorfer and Joel Rosario for the money shot; expect some improvement.
6 L’Anch – Showed improvement in second career start; was bet down to 2/1 and has shown tactical speed to sit a nice trip.
Long Shot – 1 Confectionist
Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
3 Separate Forest – Big class drop for this Richard Mandella charge; she needs to remember what she did right first time out.
1 All the Love – Bruce Headley was vociferous in his dislike of synthetics; let’s see if he can get cranked up on dirt.
Long Shot – 2 Grand Mischief
Race 4 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 8 feet), Purse $45,000, Claiming $50,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
1 Recipient – Only starter with a decent turf resume; expect Brice Blanc to take back, save ground and find her best late.
2 Yellow Slicker – Makes her turf debut, but is bred for grass by Bertrando; watch the tote board for additional clues.
Long Shot – 4 E Z Rachel
Race 5 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
2 Diamond Journey – We’ll see how much she improves first time out for Mike Pupye; like that Garrett Gomez remains loyal.
1 Sweet Consolidator – Logical chalk has had the most chances in this field to graduate; ran 5-of-9 in the money finishes.
Long Shot – 3 Homework
Race 6 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 8 feet), Purse $54,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
1 Tashzara – Second best in last when clear of the third horse by 8 lengths; saves ground, fires late under Joel Rosario.
4 Mutually Benefit – Garrett Gomez had choices and opted to ride for Tom Proctor; live barn, has great grass pedigree.
Long Shot – 6 Unknown Heat
Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $59,000, Allowance, 4-year-olds and up
2 Moonlark – Bob Baffert barn keeps burning up the dirt; no reason to think this guy won’t be another notch on the belt.
1 Stacy’s Hope – Dead-late closer will hope a speed duel ensues; Victor Espinoza saves ground and fires late in the lane.
Long Shot – 4 Square Eddie
Race 8 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
8 Mo Cheese – Tepid chalk in an ugly looking finale; adding blinkers on may be enough to get her over the hump.
7 Miss Bold Topper – The less starts the better at this bottom class level; adding Lasix on, that can only help.
Long Shot – 12 Nana Beach
Best Bet – 1 Tashzara (race 6)
