Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $23,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Rollerskates – Jeff Mullins drops this mare down 50 percent in price tag; now-or-never time with Rafael Bejarano up.
2 Jana Gail – Good second in last upon return to synthetics; her best efforts have come over the artificial surface.
Long Shot – 1 Zippin E
Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Dangerous Angel – Adding blinkers on after a strong second last out; like that P Val remains loyal to the cause.
2 Favorable – Richard Mandella was not big on winning first time out until recently; main man Joel Rosario is up.
Long Shot – 4 Swift Beauty
Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
4 Bellingham – Has shown good turf affinity, but in sprints; stretching out for the first time, will need to relax.
6 Tippety Tap Tap – Broke through last time with the kind of effort they hoped for; pedigree to be a decent turf sort.
Long Shot – 5 Coming Thru
Race 4 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies, 3-year-olds
2 Seachi – Chance to be lone early speed, the best bet in horse racing; David Flores tries to go wire to wire.
7 Banana Cream Pie – She has the resume to win; key is she was claimed from Mike Mitchell and spun her wheels in that barn.
Long Shot – 4 Diamond Journey
Race 5 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $52,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Candy’s Pleasure – Speedball draws the advantageous rail in this turf sprint; lost all chance at the start in last.
7 West Ruler – Logical chalk must overcome the overland route in this sprint; will stalk early, try and grind late.
Long Shot – 4 Up In Time
Race 6 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
1 Ominous Thomas – He appears comfortable at this $25k price tag; saves all the ground and grinds it out late.
8 Classic Bobby – Third start off a 9-month hiatus; huge class drop from a stakes and reunited with Garrett Gomez.
Long Shot – 6 Deluxe Bus
Race 7 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $52,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
5 On My Honor – Stretching out around 2 turns for the first time; like a last-out winner who ran a slower Beyer speed figure.
1 Woodmans Luck – Logical chalk lost a head in the Snow Chief last out; resume shows synthetics are his preferred surface.
Long Shot – 2 Excelling
Race 8 – 7 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds and up
7 Magic Beam – Like the turn back in distance from turf route to elongated sprint; slides down the maiden claiming ladder.
1 Magic Spirit – Logical chalk lost a tough head bob in last; hate the rail, but has run fast enough to beat these.
Long Shot – 2 Bay Rush
Best Bet – 2 Seachi (race 4)
Hollywood Park Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 17/4/$58.00; Long Shots, 8/1/$5.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Park Totals – 272/70/$534.00; Long Shots, 133/25/$227.40; Best Bets, 15/6/$27.40
SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY – 2 Skitching (2/1) in race 4 at Churchill Downs. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, D. Ballenger ran second at Churchill Downs paying $4.20 to place and $3.00 to show. Stats – 80/50/$387.90
