Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 2 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Maiden claiming $100,000, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds
7 Oh Righty – Walther Solis has an uncoupled entry, so caveat emptor; second best last time in a sharp debut.
5 Lulu’s Quest – Exits bullet workouts and from another live baby barn; Joe Talamo is an outstanding gate rider.
Long Shot – 3 Turbo Tess
Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $28,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Chocolate Caliente – The maestro got away with one winning her debut for a $30k price tag; eligible for many race conditions.
4 Queenie Marini – Was thought of enough to run in a stakes race two back; this spot is easier to say the least.
Long Shot – 1 Line One
Race 3 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $45,000, Claiming $50,000, 4-year-olds and up
2 Stoneside – Sharp win in last, flattered when Red Alert Day won next out; improving while others are dropping.
1 Universal Peace – Big class dropper draws the rail to save lots of ground; need not be much to handle these.
Long Shot – 4 Waltzing With Blue
Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds
7 Honor Among Us – Claimed off a career-best effort; like that P Val stays on, repeat race is good enough to graduate.
3 Magic Spirit – Shown solid improvement with each career start; can upset here with one more step forward.
Long Shot – 4 Preferred Mandate
Race 5 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $59,000, Allowance, 4-year-olds and up
6 Sebastian Flyte – Garrett Gomez had options and chose to ride for Ben Cecil; this is a needed confidence builder.
3 Times Gone By – Nice try in the grade 1 Kilroe last out; he has hinted at special ability, but come up short.
Long Shot – 2 Imponente Purse
Race 6 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $18,000, Claiming $10,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
4 Havens Lake – Has winning ways which means a lot at this low class level; Bill Spawr has her razor sharp right now.
1 Ann’s Seven – Second best to her arch nemesis in last two starts; enough talent to turn the table at square odds.
Long Shot – 7 Moon Stone Madness
Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $56,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
1 Tiz a Bud Girl – Hate the rail post, but he looks like the right animal; Joel Rosario must get off the inside.
5 Boehle – Been away a year, but showed turf ability; Marty Jones can get them ready off of workouts alone.
Long Shot – 3 Pleasing Sunrise
Race 8 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $54,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Bila Shaka – Looks best of a fairly slow lot; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.
5 Distant Glow – Big rider switch to Joe Talamo for the money shot; showed something when third in last out.
Long Shot – 6 On Your Mark
Best Bet – 6 Sebastian Flyte (race 5)
Santa Anita Park Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 17/7/$51.80; Long Shots, 9/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
