HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 7:05 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 furlongs, Purse $27,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

6 I Sense Your Luck – Like the parking lot post to stalk the leaders; from Mike Mitchell, typically the one to beat.

2 Son de America – Huge class drop from an O/C $80K down to $16K claimer; key vote for me is from returning Joel Rosario.

Long Shot – 4 Arinyes Love

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $24,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

3 Miss Oops – Exploded with a big win last time in her Hollywood debut; claimed by Robertino Diodoro, runs her right back.

5 Lil Miss Macky – Chance for a Mike Mitchell daily double; won nicely in last and now is dropped one notch in class.

Long Shot – 2 Woodman’s Lass

Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

4 Sizzlin’ Joe – Trailed a fast paced race and came roaring down the stretch late; Marty Jones babies improve with experience.

3 Mel’s Game – Debuted in a grass sprint; ran like a green baby, slow early fast late, big rider switch to Joel Rosario.

Long Shot – 2 D’Obsession

Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $40,000, Claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

4 Palio Prince – Ran great at this level two back, then was in tough last out; Joel Rosario picked up a lot of live mounts.

2 Close to the Edge – Doug O’Neill has not started many this meet, but most have been live; exited a very quick paced race.

Long Shot – 3 Luckarack

Race 5 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $33,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

1 Ms. G. I. Jane – Has a good turf resume and clearly fits at this class level; saves ground and comes grinding late.

6 Hakucki – Ran two good turf sprints at this class before a clunker in last; fits a lot better with this kind.

Long Shot – 3 Fifth Ave.

Race 6 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

8 Sudden Sunday – FTS from Mike Mitchell who can cap a nice day today; watch the tote board for additional clues.

1 Natalie’s Academy – Beaten favorite ran a winning race for this level two races ago; has speed and has the rail too.

Long Shot – 3 Full’s Figurehead

Race 7 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

6 Unusual Hottie – Solid turf resume and has tactical speed to favor the turf rail out 15 feet; tiny edge in a difficult heat.

8 Carrie Rose – Part of an uncoupled Mike Mitchell entry; keep an eye on the longer price Donner Wasser w/Rafael Bejarano.

Long Shot – 5 Shewhomustbeobeyed

Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up

10 Hidden Quest – One of the few horses to run well last out; don’t mind the parking lot post to clock the early speed.

2 Three Little Birds – Ran like a horse in need of a race last time; should improve in second start off a 2-year-old.

Long Shot – 8 Navy Seal Six

Best Bet – 6 I Sense Your Luck (race 1)

Betfair Hollywood Park Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/2/$13.60; Long Shots, 7/1/$7.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Betfair Hollywood Park Totals – 287/69/$478.00; Long Shots, 146/23/$221.20; Best Bets, 14/4/$16.00

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #7 Debase the Dollar (7/2) in race 5 at Belmont Park. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total.
