Senior forward Drew Gordon had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lift second-seeded New Mexico to a 72-67 victory over UNLV in a Mountain West Conference tournament semifinal at the Thomas & Mack Center. The third-seeded Rebels will now wait until 3 p.m. Sunday to learn their postseason fate when the NCAA Tournament field is announced.
Mountain West Conference player of the year Jamaal Franklin scored 19 points and added six rebounds to help San Diego State advance to the championship game of the conference tournament with a 79-69 win over Colorado State in the first semifinal Friday evening.

The UNLV women’s basketball team, seeded second in the Mountain West Conference tournament, tumbled in the first round to seventh-seeded New Mexico 61-58 at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Lady Rebels (22-9) led 54-45 with eight minutes remaining, but the Lobos (10-19) outscored UNLV 16-4 the rest of the way.
