Tight game brewing

Jermaine Taylor scored nine points to help Houston to a 43-42 lead over Phoenix at halftime of the second game of the first day of the NBA Vegas Summer League at Cox Pavilion.
Former Virginia Tech star Zabian Dowdell also had nine points for the Suns.

Close Call

Taylor Griffin, who is best known for being Blake’s brother, nearly took out Review-Journal NBA writer Steve Carp early in the game.
Griffin chased a ball across the baseline and nearly crashed right into the famed scribe, who was typing away furiously on a story for tomorrow’s paper.

Familiar territory

One of the major storylines in the NCAA Tournament was the benching of Villanova star Scottie Reynolds.
He started the tournament on the sideline and was never able to find his game when he finally did get in the game.
Reynolds finds himself in a similar situation today as Phoenix coach Dan Majerle has yet to insert the rookie in the lineup.
