Thursday’s results
Wizards 71, Hawks 60 — Former Findlay Prep star Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 22 points as Washington advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals. The Wizards, who trailed by 17 points in the second quarter, held Atlanta to 2-for-17 shooting on 3-pointers and pulled away with a 26-12 fourth quarter. Brandon Ashley, also of Findlay Prep, led the Hawks with 12 points.
Timberwolves 89, Grizzlies 85 — Tyus Jones had 26 points and 10 assists for Minnesota, which advanced to the quarterfinals despite the absence of rookie Kris Dunn (concussion). Coty Clarke had 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Timberwolves. Levi Randolph led Memphis with 26 points.
Suns 77, Heat 74 — Tyler Ulis led Phoenix into the quarterfinals with 20 points and eight assists. Victor Rudd scored 24 points for Miami, which rallied from a 10-point deficit in the third quarter to tie the score 66-66 midway through the fourth. The Heat almost forced overtime, but Damion Lee’s 30-foot 3-pointer to tie bounced off the rim at the buzzer.
Nets 87, 76ers 84 — Rondae Hollis-Jefferson hit two free throws with 4.8 seconds remaining, and Brooklyn advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals after Brandon Paul’s 3-point attempt to tie the score from the top of the key was short. Philadelphia was 12 of 35 (34 percent) on 3-pointers. Sean Kilpatrick had 24 points and eight rebounds to lead Brooklyn. Chris McCullough had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Nets, who outrebounded the 76ers 41-27. Paul led Philadelphia with 18 points.
Nuggets 80, Jazz 60 — Jamal Murray led Denver into Saturday’s quarterfinals with 20 points. Both teams were missing key performers. Utah guard Trey Lyles, the summer league’s leading scorer at 29.0 points per game, did not dress. Emmanuel Mudiay, who leads the Nuggets in scoring at 23.0 points per game, also missed the game. Shaquielle McKissic, Dionte Christmas and Spencer Butterfield each scored 10 for the Jazz.
Bulls 86, Mavericks 73 — Bobby Portis scored 19 points for Chicago, which shot 48 percent from the floor. Justin Anderson scored 17 and Jonathan Gibson 14 for Dallas.
Raptors 75, Warriors 69 — Norman Powell scored 17 points and Drew Crawford 17 to help Toronto into the quarterfinals in a game with 10 lead changes and eight ties. Former UNLV guard Patrick McCaw scored 28 points to lead Golden State.
Cavaliers 88, Lakers 80 — Jordan McRae scored 36 points and Kay Felder 20 for Cleveland, which trailed by 19 in the second quarter. D’Angelo Russell led six Los Angeles scorers in double figures with 19 points. Lakers second-year forward Larry Nance Jr. landed hard on his right wrist with 36 seconds remaining and went to the locker room. There was no immediate report on his condition.

Star of the day
Jordan McRae scored 36 points to lead Cleveland in its comeback win over the Lakers. He had 16 points in the first half and 20 in the second.
Local spotlight
Former UNLV star Patrick McCaw, a rookie guard for Golden State, had his highest-scoring performance with 28 points in the Warriors’ 75-69 loss to Toronto. He scored 25 in the first three quarters. For the game, he hit 10 of 17 field-goal attempts, with five 3-pointers.

“It felt like Kentucky again. Me and (Denver’s) Jamal (Murray) had to do a lot of the scoring, so I tried to step up in that role this game.” — Phoenix guard Tyler Ulis, who scored 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting in the Suns’ win over Miami.
On the scene
Former UNLV player Anthony Bennett signed with Brooklyn on Thursday and watched the Nets play Philadelphia at the Thomas & Mack Center. The 23-year-old Bennett, the No. 1 draft pick in 2013 by Cleveland, had spent the past two weeks playing for Canada, which failed to qualify for next month’s Olympics.
