Baseball legend Minnie Minoso dead at 90

Chicago baseball great Minnie Minoso died on Sunday aged 90, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

The Chicago White Sox legend was the city’s first black major league player, the Chicago Tribune said.

Nicknamed the “Cuban Comet,” he was a major figure in the racial integration of the sport in the 1950s.

“When I die, I want to be playing baseball. Truly. They don’t bury me without my uniform,” he once said, according to his biography on the White Sox’s website.
