Six-run eighth inning propels 51s to win over Reno

Travis Taijeron drew a bases-loaded walk to score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday, and the 51s ended up scoring six runs in the frame to top the Reno Aces 11-6 in a Pacific Coast League game at Cashman Field.
Wilfredo Tovar, who scored the tying run on a passed ball to start the inning, also had a two-run single later in the inning. T.J. Rivera added an RBI single for an insurance run.
Tovar finished 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBIs for the 51s, who trailed 6-5 after the top half of the inning following Nick Buss’ two-run double.
Taijeron, Rivera and Brooks Conrad each had two RBIs for the 51s (32-29).
Starting pitcher Steven Matz threw a season-low four innings for Las Vegas. He gave up five hits, four runs and three walks while striking out six.
Chase Bradford (1-2) picked up the win in two innings of relief for the 51s.
Cody Ransom was 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Aces (26-34).
Kevin Munson (2-2) picked up the loss for Reno.
The teams continue their series with games at 7:05 p.m. today and Saturday and at 12:05 p.m. Sunday.
