Mountain Ridge beats Arizona, finishes Little League West regional pool play 3-1

Jaret Godman and Nick Cornman combined on a two-hitter Tuesday to help Mountain Ridge top Chandler (Ariz.) National 7-0 in the Little League Baseball West Regional in San Bernardino, Calif.

Mountain Ridge finished 3-1 in pool play and will be the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in Friday’s regional semifinals.

Final pairings will be announced after today’s games. The semifinals are scheduled for 2 p.m. on ESPN2 and 6 p.m. on ESPN.

Godman struck out eight in 3 2/3 innings, and Cornman fanned four in the final 2 1/3 innings.

Ryan Lystund belted a two-run home run in the fourth inning, and Tyler Barker added a two-run homer in the fifth as Mountain Ridge scored three times in each inning to blow open the game.

Barker’s two-out RBI single in the first plated Godman with the game’s first run, and Mountain Ridge never looked back.
