Mazzoni, Reynolds lead 51s past River Cats, 7-2

Cory Mazzoni pitched six shutout innings, and Matt Reynolds went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs to lift the 51s to a 7-2 win over the Sacramento River Cats in a Pacific Coast League game Sunday in West Sacramento, Calif.
Mazzoni, who entered the game with a 1-1 record and a 5.65 ERA in three starts since his promotion from Double-A Binghamton, was lifted after giving up a leadoff homer to Daric Barton in the seventh. The right-hander permitted five hits and no walks and struck out five.
Reynolds hit an RBI single in Las Vegas’ two-run fourth inning that opened the scoring, and his two-run homer in the eighth capped the scoring for the Pacific South Division-leading 51s (64-53).
Andrew Brown led off the fifth with a home run on an 0-and-2 pitch, his 18th homer of the season, and finished 2-for-5. Anthony Seratelli also had two hits for Las Vegas, and he stole two bases, scored twice and drove in a run.
Matt Buschmann (6-6) gave up four runs on nine hits and five walks and struck out six in 6 2/3 innings for Pacific North-leading Sacramento (66-50).
