Five-run third inning sparks Fresno to 8-4 victory over 51s

Preston Tucker’s two-run homer capped the scoring in Fresno’s five-run third inning Friday night, sending the Grizzlies to an 8-4 victory over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game in Fresno, Calif.
Matt Duffy had a two-run single and Jon Singleton an RBI double in the decisive inning for Fresno (2-0), which had a 12-7 edge in hits.
Nolan Fontana went 3-for-3 and scored three runs to back starter Dan Straily (1-0), who held Las Vegas (0-2) to three runs on five hits and three walks and struck out six in five innings. The 51s mustered two hits off four relievers in the final four innings.
Las Vegas starter Matt Bowman (0-1) gave up seven runs on eight hits and one walk and struck out eight in 4 2/3 innings.
Eric Campbell went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Brandon Allen went 2-for-5 with a triple and an RBI for the 51s.
