Chicago Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro was questioned by Dominican Republic authorities in connection with a Saturday morning nightclub shooting.
It was initially reported that Castro was arrested but his agent, Paul Kinzer, said he had nothing to do with the incident that injured six people, including one in serious condition..
“He wasn’t arrested. That’s just the (Dominican) media trying to get headlines,” Kinzer told CBSSports.com. “He answered questions, he wasn’t involved and they know it.”
A police spokesperson said that some people close to Castro were involved in the shooting.
Kinzer said Castro was at the club when the shooting occurred, but left through the back door and to the police to answer questions.
Castro was linked to a shooting in the Dominican Republic earlier this month, but he was cleared of any wrongdoing.
The 24-year-old Castro hit .292 with 14 homers and 65 RBIs in 134 games last season. He signed a six-year, $60 million contract in 2012.
