Aces erupt early, roll past 51s, 15-4

The Reno Aces scored a total of 11 runs in the second and third innings to take control and rout the 51s 15-4 on Wednesday night in Reno.

Reno (51-43) did its damage off Darin Gorski (2-3) and Erik Goeddel. Both pitchers allowed all 11 runs in the first three innings, giving up 11 hits.

The Aces had 18 hits, with Aaron Cunningham and Garrett Weber each going 3-for-5. Alfredo Marte drove in four runs, and Cunningham had three RBIs. Marte and Mark Trumbo also homered.

Wilmer Flores went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Las Vegas (54-40).

Reno’s Andrew Chafin (3-3) picked up the victory, allowing five hits and two runs in six innings. He struck out six.

The Aces have won two of the first three games of the series. Las Vegas will go for the split at 7:05 p.m. today.
