51s’ T.J. Rivera wins PCL player of the month

51s third baseman T.J. Rivera was named the PCL Player of the Month for May, Minor League Baseball announced Tuesday.

Rivera batted .373 on the month, clubbing five home runs and collecting 31 RBIs. The RBIs were tops in the league for the month, as were his 47 hits. He had 69 total bases, which was second in the PCL.

For the season, Rivera is hitting .358/.393/.519 with six home runs and 48 RBIs entering play Tuesday. He is second in the league in batting average.

The last 51 to be honored by the league was pitcher Rafael Montero, earning the PCL Pitcher of the Week award on May 16.
