51s’ rally falls short in 7-6 loss at Salt Lake

Tommy Field went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 7-6 series-opening victory over the 51s on Thursday night in Salt Lake City.
The 51s (56-43) trailed 7-1 after five innings, but rallied with five runs in the eighth. Las Vegas had a chance to take the lead with the bases loaded and two outs, but Matt Reynolds flied to right field to end the threat.
Wade LeBlanc (7-2) went six innings for the Bees (41-58), allowing four hits and a run, with 11 strikeouts. Michael Kohn pitched the final 1 1/3 innings for his fifth save.
Las Vegas’ Noah Syndergaard (7-5) allowed nine hits and seven runs in five innings.
The teams meet again at 6:05 p.m. PDT today.
