51s lose at Sacramento on two-run homer in 11th inning

Andy Parrino’s two-run, two-out home run in the bottom of the 11th inning broke a 5-5 tie and gave the Sacramento River Cats a 7-5 win over the 51s on Thursday night in Sacramento Calif.

Las Vegas had rallied from a 5-0 deficit to pull even in the top of the ninth when Kevin Plawecki’s two-out fly ball to left field glanced off the glove of Sacramento left fielder Shane Peterson for a home run to tie the game 5-5.

But 51s reliever Buddy Carlyle (3-2) couldn’t extend the game to the 12th inning, as Nick Buss singled and Parrino followed with the game-winning homer.

Evan Scribner (3-1) worked a scoreless 11th for the win.

The teams continue their four-game series at 7:05 p.m. today.
