51s come up short to Sounds

Jose Macias singled three times and drove in two runs Wednesday as the Nashville Sounds built a six-run lead after three innings and held on for a 6-4 victory over the 51s in Nashville, Tenn.

Tim Dillard (3-3) scattered eight hits and gave up two earned runs over six innings for the Sounds, who had dropped the opener of the four-game Pacific Coast League series on Tuesday night, 4-3.

Reliever Luther Hackman recorded his ninth save, getting the final out — a ground-ball force-out by the 51s’ Choo Freeman — after Nashville’s third of four pitchers, Greg Aquino, gave up two runs in the ninth.

Joe Dillon and Fausto Abad each had two hits for Nashville (28-25). Dillon hit his fifth home run of the season to lead off the second inning.

Luis Maza had three hits and Delwyn Young drove in three runs for the 51s (24-28). Starting pitcher Spike Lundberg (2-4) gave up nine hits and six earned runs in 2 1/3 innings.
