LETTERS: It wasn’t the voters who were stupid

To the editor:

Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber got it all wrong when he said that the reason Obamacare was passed into law was because American voters were stupid. It wasn’t the American voters who were stupid, because it wasn’t the American voters who voted for the Affordable Care Act.

The only stupid ones were the Democrats in the House of Representatives and the Senate who voted for the bill. They were the only ones who voted for it, and most of them neither bothered to read the bill nor cared what was in it. Not a single Republican member of Congress voted for the ACA. Only Democrats supported it, only Democrats said we could keep our doctors and our health insurance policies, and only Democrats said we would save $2,500 a year.

And who from Nevada in Congress do we have to thank for Obamacare? Ask Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Dina Titus. They might want to admit the embarrassing and shameful truth to you. Over the past three national elections, many in Congress who ignored the will of the American people and stupidly voted for that bill have been thrown out of office.

Democratic deception

To the editor:

So the passage of Obamacare in 2010 was dependent upon deliberate fraud and deceit, passed by legislators and a president who lied and relied on the “stupidity of the American voter” to get their way (“Economist under attack for ‘stupidity’ comment,” Nov. 12 Review-Journal). What a surprise. Who knew?

Well, talk radio and one of the major political parties knew, that’s who. They warned before, during and after passage of this dung heap that we were being lied to and predicted exactly what was going to happen.

Are you tired of seeing deliberately destructive legislation passed, being lied to and being considered stupid by those elected to office? There is a solution. Vote for the party that did not cast one vote in Congress for Obamacare. The Republicans actually analyze proposed legislation, do not fall for lies and will respect you. Vote against the party that voted unanimously in the Senate and 87 percent in the House for Obamacare’s passage.

Complicit media

To the editor:

On Nov. 10, the story broke that MIT Professor Jonathan Gruber, an architect of Obamacare, informed people at two conferences that the Obama administration purposely misled (lied) to the American people about Obamacare legislation. The lies involved the taxes and wording within the bill.

For days after the story broke, there was not a single follow-up story done by national news outlets, not a single story by local news and only one report by CNN. Do we need any more proof of the liberal bias in the media? Didn’t any of the reporters think these facts might interest the American people? Or are reporters complicit in the deception perpetrated by the administration? What a national disgrace.

Ebola lawsuit

To the editor:

I am appalled that an immigrant’s family was able to sue the Dallas hospital over the care their family member received while battling Ebola. Thomas Duncan had no insurance. Who is going to pay that bill? He received all the care that the hospital was able to provide, but due to the severity of the illness, he died. What more could that hospital have done?

My opinion is the family should be ineligible to sue until the hospital bill is paid in full. No one should be allowed into this country to get free health treatment, and then turn around and sue when the outcome isn’t satisfactory. Only U.S. citizens should be allowed to bring lawsuits. The political correctness in this country has gone overboard. Enough of this country being the sucker of the world.
