A matter of metrics

Has hell frozen over in Carson City?

On Monday, lawmakers finally voted to get rid of one of the state’s many worthless boards, putting an end to the Nevada Advisory Council on the Metric System.

The board was created in 1981 when the nation was in the throes of that silly campaign to force us to convert to centimeters, meters, kilometers and all that. Thud.

The panel hadn’t met since 1985, but no previous Legislature could pull the trigger on this dinosaur. Until now.

Small victories.
