A female teacher from Foothill High School who is on paid leave and being investigated by the Clark County School District did not have a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy from the school, the pupil’s mom said Thursday.
“I have talked to my son, and I do not believe there was a sexual relationship at all,” said the mother, who asked for her and her son to remain unidentified to protect her family’s privacy. “I do believe there was an inappropriate type of relationship. I do think there were comments of a sexual nature made to my son” by the teacher.
Three teachers from the Henderson campus are on paid leave and being investigated by the school system. District officials have not said why.
Sources close to the investigation have said the teachers are being investigated because of allegations of sexual misconduct that vary in seriousness. The allegations against the teachers are unrelated.
Henderson police took over one investigation Monday. Keith Paul, a department spokesman, has not named the teacher who is being investigated because no charges have been filed.
However, the mother said the district has handled the allegations correctly by removing the teacher from the classroom.
She said the teacher “needs to talk to someone” because she has some “issues that she needs to resolve.”
Her son is doing well, the mother said, is still enrolled at the school and just wants to go on with his life.
“He wants the whole thing to be over,” she said. “He wants to resume his normal life without the whispers and comments.”
